What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
In Class III patients with overclosure, a functional shift of the mandible occurs once bite jumping is achieved, allowing additional Class III correction to be expected. In the present case, despite the patient being an adult, a bite jump resulting from posterior repositioning of the mandible occurred early in treatment under the influence of Class III elastics. This may have been further facilitated by the inherent characteristic of Invisalign clear aligners, which cover the occlusal surfaces and thereby disocclude the dentition.
What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
The success of this treatment was primarily attributed to two factors: the use of Class III elastics to induce bite jumping, and sequential distalization in the mandibular right quadrant to address the more severe Class III relationship on the right side.
