What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
Even in severe skeletal Class III and open bite cases, which are difficult to treat with traditional bracket-based orthodontics, successful treatment can be achieved using Invisalign. By controlling the individual movement of each tooth and simultaneously optimizing the occlusal plane, Invisalign allows for an effective and efficient treatment approach.
What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
The patient presented with a severe skeletal Class III malocclusion accompanied by a significant open bite. However, the patient was strongly opposed to undergoing surgery, leading to the decision to proceed with camouflaged treatment. There were three major factors that contributed to the successful outcome of this case:
First, the advantage of Invisalign in altering the occlusal plane, combined with Class III elastics, played a crucial role. Second, Invisalign’s ability to control the position of each individual tooth allowed for highly customized tooth movements. Third, the intrusion of the posterior teeth was effectively achieved using ghost attachments placed on the occlusal surfaces of the molars. This was a case that would have been extremely difficult—if not nearly impossible—to treat using traditional braces. However, through Invisalign, it was successfully managed.
