What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
When a specific tooth is severely out of arch alignment, space can be created by moving the adjacent teeth. In traditional bracket-based orthodontic treatment, open coil springs and TADs are often used for this purpose, and patients must visit the clinic regularly for progress monitoring. One drawback is that if brackets are detached, the overall treatment time may be prolonged. Additionally, as distalization progresses, changes in tooth angulation may occur, which often require repositioning of the brackets or adjusting the arch wire. In contrast, Invisalign aligners allows for effective treatment involving expansion, distalization, and angulation control, without the need for additional auxiliary appliances and procedures.
What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
#23 was significantly out of the arch and buccally inclined. Expansion and distalization of the left posterior teeth were performed to allow proper alignment of #23. Additionally, #11, 21, and 22 were retroclined, so torque of 10.0B was applied for all three teeth and power ridges on #11 and #21. To prevent an increase in overjet resulting from the buccal torque, Class II elastics were used throughout treatment. Precision bite ramps were used to resolve the deep bite.
