Invisalign Palatal Expander

Patient Chief Concern
Anterior crowding was the problem the patient and his parents wanted to solve, until we explained there was a need for skeletal expansion with MARPE. Parents refused MARPE treatment, and we opted in for Invisalign Palatal Expander.

Where any other treatment options used?
Patient is on holding phase and ready to start treatment with invisalign comprehensive.

Clinical Indications

  • Asymmetric arches
  • Crossbite
  • Crowding
  • Narrow arches
  • Smile width (narrow arches)
Skeletal posterior crossbite, skeletal class II, increased anterior Curve of Spee. Two temporary teeth in the lower arch dictate final archform in the lower arch, since parents didn't want to extract them and stripping is not an ideal option due to roots. CBCT was needed to fully understand skeletal transverse situation since lower temporary molars are not to be moved and a careful root analysis was also mandatory to determine amount of IPR to be performed in these to leave an ideal final space for future premolar restoration with dental implants.

Modalities

  • Expansion
32 expanders were used to achieve a final total skeletal expansion of 5mm, with a V expansion pattern of the palatine suture, typical of a 16 year old patient.
