What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
Invisalign aligners allow for multiple forms of treatment, such as controlling tooth torque, expansion, and correcting tooth rotation. As tooth rotation and alignment are improved, changes in overjet may occur. Therefore, appropriate elastics should be applied accordingly to manage these changes.
What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
In this case, the focus was on resolving the rotation and crowding of both the maxillary and mandibular arches. Since the patient already had Class I molar relationship, the goal was to maintain this occlusion while addressing the existing issues. For the maxillary arch, only expansion was performed to resolve the rotation, without any IPR. In the mandibular arch, IPR was done on the anterior region to resolve the rotation and crowding. As the rotation and alignment of the upper anterior teeth were corrected, the overjet increased in effect. To reduce overjet, Class II elastics were used. Additionally, the mandibular first molars were lingually inclined, so significant buccal torque was applied to achieve proper molar torque.
