Patient Chief Concern
Protruded maxillary incisors, deep bite

What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
Patients with a severe deep bite, anterior intrusion can be overcorrected to an edge-to-edge bite in order to prevent relapse.

What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
During the treatment of the patient, the main focus was to address the protruded maxillary incisors and deep bite. To resolve the deep bite, anterior intrusion was performed by using bite ramps on the maxillary incisors in both the primary and secondary aligners. In both stages, deep bite correction was overcorrected to the point where the overbite approached zero by the time the final aligners were worn, in order to minimize the risk of relapse. Due to the significant protrusion of teeth #11 and #21, substantial lingual torque was applied to achieve proper incisor inclination. Additionally, Class II elastics were used during the first set of aligners to gradually reduce the overjet. IPR was not performed to resolve the crowding. Instead, arch expansion in both the maxilla and mandible was used to gain space and align the teeth.
