Patient Chief Concern
Diastema
What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
The aligner is a highly effective tool for maxillary expansion and arch alignment. IPR can be performed to more effectively resolve the diastema.
What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
The patient had a diastema between 1.1 and 2.1, and there was a lack of space for the eruption of permanent teeth in both the maxilla and mandible. Additionally, all four maxillary incisors exhibited improper torque and angulation, and the patient also had a deep bite. In the mandible, rotation of the lateral incisors had occurred, resulting in the four anterior teeth being aligned in a straight line. Arch expansion was performed in both the maxilla and mandible, with a focus on adjusting the angulation and torque of the anterior teeth. To more effectively reduce the diastema during the second phase of treatment, slight IPR was performed between 1.1 and 2.1 before taking a scan for the second set of aligners.
