What learning would you share with other Invisalign providers?
In non-extraction cases, transverse expansion is necessary to prevent protrusion of anterior teeth. In this case, initially the mandibular anterior teeth were not parallel, but their angulation was adjusted using Invisalign aligners, achieving root axis parallelism.
This case demonstrates that Invisalign treatment can successfully control tooth angulation.
What contributed most to this treatment being successful?
The vertical rectangular attachment on the #32 helped controlling angulation, allowing for root parallelism of the lower incisors. Despite being a non-extraction case, proper alignment was achieved without labial inclination of the maxillary anterior teeth, due to the expansion of the intercanine width. Torque control was crucial for the severly lingually inclined #12 and maxillary canines. Labial torque was applied to the aligners, leading to a successful outcome. By inducing labioversion of the maxillary canines, root control was achieved, ultimately establishing canine-guided functional occlusion.
