Dental history: The patient had completed pre-restorative Invisalign orthodontic treatment at my clinic to correct crowding and improve the protrusive profile. Now her chief complaint was a gummy smile, dark shade of teeth, and black triangles between teeth. She already had a fixed retainer on both the upper and lower.
The treatment plan: To restore #15 to #25 and #35 to #45 with 20 veneers to improve her smile and dental esthetics.
Advantage of digital impression: For such cases having fixed retainers, if doctors choose traditional PVS impressions, it will usually take a lot of time and effort. And the accuracy of the impression will be worse due to the distortion at the fixed retainer area. The digital impression has many advantages such as: taking less time in the chair, high accuracy, and a better experience for patients.
